Sunninghill's Lion's Lair

sunninghillMove over Dragon's Den, make way for Lion's Lair!

Sunninghill Preparatory School in Dorchester recently held a Lion's Lair competition for budding entrepreneurs, and, whilst the Lion's Lair has a more local audience compared to it's larger TV counterpart, it has not meant that the ideas have been any less creative or commercial.

Sunninghill Headmaster, Andrew Roberts-Wray said, "All of the ideas which students have put forward have been incredibly inventive and it provides a great vehicle for teaching students about tapping into and focusing their own creativity. In this particular instance it has provided students with an insight into the world of business."

One of the great aspects of the competition has been the support of local businesses. Mark Downey of Epic Print was on hand to offer some practical commercial advice, Darrel Stuart-Smith of local law firm Humphries Kirk and Mike Wheller of Prospect Patents advised the students on protecting the intellectual property and Claire Robertson of Wellworths has kindly offered to test market the product.

The winning team have created a useful product which has both health and ecological benefits. The product is being kept under wraps at this stage but the students have plans for an official launch sometime in the near future.
