Dorchester Arts is set to celebrate fifty years since the first moon landing with a huge, outdoor musical event for the community in Maumbury Rings, Dorchester. This event is free to attend and will attract an audience of 3000+ people.
In the first half of the year, the project will involve 2000 children of all ages in multi-disciplinary workshops in schools – science, music, singing, drama and art – all connected to the themes of moon and space.
Then on 19 July 2019, Dorchester Town Council is to bring the internationally famous ‘Museum of the Moon’ to the centre of town – a 7 metre diameter, inflatable giant moon, suspended and shining over Maumbury Rings. Under it, Dorchester Arts will present a performance of an original musical piece for children’s voices, created by local professional musician and composer Geof Edge, called Apollo – One Giant Leap!
Humphries Kirk is proud to sponsor this event.
