“Research indicates that up to two thirds of adults do not have a Will in the UK, and thousands of people die intestate (without a Will) every year.
From 1st October 2014 the Inheritance and Trustees Powers Act 2014 will represent a significant step in updating the current laws on intestacy.
However, those persons who do not choose to marry one another, but would like to leave some or all of their financial and other assets to a partner or other person they are not related to, on death, will not be protected under the new rules. Therefore, please seek the advice and guidance of a Private Client advisor at Humphries Kirk to prepare you a Will and enact your wishes.”
